WATERLOO COFFEE COMPANY USES FAIR TRADE COFFEE BEANS

All of our coffee is roasted using green beans we buy from a Fair Trade Certified™ source. From the very start we have insisted on operating our business fairly and responsibly.

Fair Trade is an international system of doing business based on dialogue, transparency and respect. It contributes to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions for producers and workers in developing countries.

Behind the principles and goals of Fair Trade is a rigorous international system of monitoring, auditing and certification. The international Fair Trade system is structured to produce the following outcomes for farmers and workers in developing countries:

• fair compensation for their products and labour;
• sustainable environmental practices;
• improved social services;
• investment in local economic infrastructure.

We have been a using only Fair Trade Certified beans since we started our business, operating at first as a Licensee Labeller. As a result of the growth of our business, we then completed the process of obtaining our own, independent Fair Trade Certification. You will find on our products, the Fair Trade Logo and incouded in the price of our coffee is a component that we pass back along to the Canadian TransFair organization.
